ANATOMY STUDY
FEMALE & MALE SKELETON + MUSCLES
(2024)

A detailed study of the human anatomy. To draw characters in believable and dynamic positions, it's important to really understand the functionality of the muscles and how the body is able to bend, twist, and stretch. Underneath each figure is a skeleton, and the muscles were drawn on a layer atop it with the opacity low so that I could realistically see how each fit and/or wrapped onto the bone, as well as how the muscles overlap each other. Taking time to cross-reference different anatomical diagrams, scientific 3D models, and versions created by other artists were vital for my own progress in becomming the artist I want to be.

BONAVENTURE CEMETeRY STUDY
SAVANNAH, GA
(2024)

This is a 45-50 min study of one of the plots of a cemetary I lived by, keeping in mind to pay most attention to building a sense of atomospheric perspective. I did my best in laying out the foundation, locking into that one-point perspective, and building a greater sense of worn, weathered texture on the burial plots and the grassy grounds.

BROWN BEAR PRACTICE
(2024)
Brown bears became a personal favorite animal and an imporant symbol within a narrative about a little druid girl name Jaq. Given the intimidating aspect of understanding bear anatomy, I knew studies were needed to better prepare myself to make a more impactful visual narrative.
Disneys 'Brother Bear' was a huge scource of inspiration for this story. I took to observing and recreating co-director Arron Balises' own studies, using them as a guiding tool to better develop my own skills. His original works were fantastic resources for helping me break down the shape language of these animals and how to better characterize them into unique personalities. Once I felt confident enough with getting the overall figure down, I was able to do my own observational studies from real images of brown bears found online.

'DO YOU THINK WE'RE FRIENDS IN EVERY UNIVERSE?'
TIKTOK TREND -UNFINISHED-
(2024)

My attempt at particiating in the internet trend of 'Do you think we're friends in every universe?'. A variety of people did their own versions, and in mine, I thought to re-create I and my closest friend into the styles of our favorite media.
Although I never got around to coloring and finalizing the edit, the initial sketch ideas stay as a reminder of our friendship, and that, regardless of where we are, we will always be together and enjoying each other's company.
MERMAID THUMBNAILS
(2024)

Thumbnails for the mermaid painting shown in the illustrations tab of my Portfolio. I like for every piece I do to have a narrative attached, and for this painting I envisioned more than just a standalone mermaid enjoying herself in a lagoon. Given this being a present for my mom, I curated a scene with a mother and daughter mermaid enjoying themselves in their private, tropical oasis. The mother tends to her beauty while the daughter mischievously sneaks up behind a frog. Several different versions of thumbnails were created before one was selected and progressed to the final work of art shown.
BUSINESS SIGN IDEATION
1ST VERSIONS BEFORE FINAL
(2024)

One page in my sketchbook showing the variety of sign ideas I had while curating my buisness banner. The main goal was to give a '50s-60s motel vibe, with a pinup illustration of me beside it. I wanted a fusion of Las Vegas meets Key West, without going too over the top. To make things more cost effective, I stayed with the standard rectangular shape, deciding to come back and order a more custom design in the future.

RANDOM FABRIC STUDY
ROMAN SCULPTURE INSPIRED
(2022)

This art piece was a study in the illusion of wet fabric clinging to the human form. Taking inspiration from sculptures of the Roman era, I didn't bother with shading and instead prioritized my attention on the linework. I wanted to cement the understanding of how the fabric was molding to the silhouette and form of the woman, relying on the contour lines for believability.

MALE FIGURE STUDY
TRACING & THEN RE-DRAWING
(2025)
This was a speedy one hour practice drawing from a photo off Pinterest. The bottom image was the first rendition, using a separate piece of paper placed over the monitor and traced to better understand the general silhouette of the position, shadows, and overall form. The drawing above is the second attempt, drawn from observation.
Tracing the figure in the first half aided in understanding the positive and negative space in the composition and figure, breaking down a tricky position into simplistic shapes.

RANDOM LITTLE CHARACTERS
A SNIPPIT OF THE CREATION PROCESS
(2025)

One bad habit I used to have was tearing out and tossing away pages that were unsatisfactory in my sketchbook. Then I got a tip from a peer in college to cover up any mistakes with sticky notes and just try again. This, along with drawing primarily in pen, helped build confidence in my skills and ability to sit and learn from the discomfort of my mistakes. Reworking the coverup and/or leaving the original 'mess up' there acts as a guide for what not to do going foward. Seeing what I don't like helps me adjust and tweak those areas to make something better in the future. Now, instead of throwing anything out, I'll just draw something next to it and remind myself it's okay and it never really was that serious to begin with.
