Naneki Garcia is a visual artist and writer with a passion for creating unique, engaging narratives and illustrations. Inspiration to pursue an artistic career came from the iconic cartoons and comic books of her childhood, including the Archie Comics, and many of the timeless works from Hanna-Barbera and classic Disney. Naneki strives to create her own visual narratives that are as impactful and influential as the greats who came before her. With a versatile skill set—including painting mediums, markers, ink, water and wax based pencils and sculpture—she continually refines her craft and blends together the traditional with the digital. As she continues to evolve with modernizing technology, she honors the foundation of art by using her platform to voice the importance of freedom of expression. She holds a great deal of respect towards the discipline required to develop as an artist, and considers herself a part of the revolution against the simplification and erasure of art within social media.
At the heart of Naneki’s work is capturing the complexity of human emotion and expression through the language of cartoons. She finds most inspiration in the diverse characters who defy stereotypes and embrace their originality, seeking to portray this unapologetic individuality of dress and personality in her work. Art is both a form of expression and an escape—a means of transporting viewers into worlds that spark curiosity and stimulate imagination, as well as offering relatability and a deeper sense of comfort.
Naneki was the original artist for a children's series about the origin of the Tooth Fairy and has also honed her skills through live caricature work. There, she captures the essence of people in quick, expressive drawings while developing her personal interest in character design by working alongside real people. Never averse to new challenges, she is currently developing a YouTube channel that chronicles her artistic journey in traversing the frustrations of becoming the artist she’s always dreamed of being. The channel will be a blend of her love for creating, storytelling, cartoons, design, and character development.
Continuously evolving as an artist, Naneki remains dedicated to never staying complacent with her skills and commits to always pushing the boundaries of her creative potential.
